VALENTINES
FOR
VETERANS
Every year on or about the 14th of February (Valentine's Day), the Oswego County American Legion Auxiliary delivers a decorated Valentine card with a $5 bill enclosed to each veteran in nursing homes in the local area from Pulaski to Hannibal.
This is an ongoing program and the recipients really appreciate the thoughtfulness of the ladies. This year Elaine Johnson designed and stuffed 91 envelopes for delivery. She spent 5 and a half hours designing, printing and preparing the envelopes for delivery. She delivered them to local Oswego recipients and then the next day Betty Rowlee assisted as they traveled from Hannibal to Pulaski in their deliveries which took a total of 5 hours as they traveled about 101 miles.
In total, they delivered Valentines to:
Elderberry Homestead, Pulaski, 2
Evergreen Home, Pulaski, 2
Meadowbrook Manor, Hannibal, 2
Michaud Home, Fulton, 4
Morningstar Rehab, Oswego, 18
Pontiac Nursing Home, Oswego, 23
The Manor at Seneca Hill, 21
St. Lukes, Oswego, 6
Unity Acres, Orwell, 9
Vale Haven, Oswego, 4
This token gift is given freely so our veterans will know that they are not forgotten and we do care about them.
(I realize this is somewhat late, but thought it was worth remembering and letting people know about.)
